Weybridge Cricket Club Centenary (+1!) Treasure Hunt

How does it work? 📌🚗📸
  • You'll get a load of clues (15 of them), which you need to solve - each clue will lead you to a particular location in Surrey
  • Simply take a photo of at least one team member plus your mascot at the location - no mascot, no points!
  • After you've taken your "answer" photo, upload it here (after logging in), where you'll also be able to get hints (at a points cost) and check the leaderboard.
  • Locations have been chosen to include some great spots for lunch and liquid breaks!
  • Photos will be checked that you're in the right location and your mascot is in the photo... if all OK, you keep your points.
  • Random points can also be added or deducted to your team's score at a whim, but mainly deducted for whining or loud shirts.
  • There will be a surprise addition to the main menu at midday, which might help the less celebral teams.
What's the "Treasure"? 🏆
  • Your team name on the WCC Treasure Hunt Shield (to be kept at WCC)
  • Bottle of bubbly for the winning team!!!
  • A mention and team photo in the WCC newsletter (WOWZERS!)
  • Medals for 1st, 2nd, 3rd... and last place too!! And they're collectibles, as they have the 2024 centenary year on them!!!
  • But most importantly: Bragging rights

So round up your mates, pick a team name (click the REGISTER tab), fuel the car, grab a map of Surrey, pack the kids, bring along the dog and don't forget a Team Mascot 🦄 for a day of adventure! Ideas for mascots:

  • "Captain Cuddles" the teddy bear
  • "Sir Flaps-a-lot" the inflatable flamingo
  • "Shady McGnomeface" the sunglassed garden gnome

  1. GETTING STARTED
    • Read the clues and try to figure out some locations before you drive off. Or don't. It's your call. Just don't say I didn't warn you.
    • Read clues; solve clues; drive to locations; take photos. Simples. You're solving clues, not string theory's 11 dimensions (Ed: It's an idea for next year's though).
    • What3Words – you might want to download the app. Just a suggestion.
  2. POINTS & SCORING
    • There are 15 clues with a max loot of 235 points. Scores range from 10 (duh!) to 30 (aaargh!) points.
    • You've plenty of time, but be back before 15:30 – lose 1 point per minute after that (excluding being under arrest – warrant required as proof).
    • Late? Lose points. Very late? I'll assume you've eloped with your mascot.
  3. PHOTO RULES
    • Take a photo of at least one team member plus mascot at each location. No mascot, no points.
    • Upload your photo to this site before 15:30 or your photos purn into tumpkins. (If you know, you know.)
    • Let your photos do the talking: allow location access when first uploading to ease verification.
    • Upload, get points, then await the validation verdict: VALID or INVALID (the antici...pation!)
    • All photos will be checked, so your score may change.
    • Not happy with a pic? Delete and upload again.
  4. HINTS & HELP
    • Need help? Click “Hints” in the menu – each hint costs you 5 points. Clues have between 1-3 hints. There are 34 hints in total.
    • Hints only become available 30 mins after the start – so from 11:30.
    • Hints are public once requested – so check first, as a more useless team may have requested one already.
    • I may release the odd free hint without notice. Emphasis on *may*.
  5. MISC
    • Live flappy leaderboard (á la old airport departures board) in the clubhouse during the hunt – for those who want a quieter Sunday lunchtime.
    • Check out all photos in the club from 15:15 and online the next day.
    • Bragging rights start at 16:00 – prize-giving time! Magnificent perpetual shield and bottle of bubbles for the winners, medals for the top 3 teams, and wooden spoon to David Miller the losing team (but probably Miller – he has form... though lovely hair).
    • Still need help? Call or WhatsApp - see below - don't take it personally if I ignore your pleas for free hints.
  6. DON'Ts (aka How to Not Get Arrested):
    • No: Speeding, drink/driving, stealing or skinny-dipping.
    • Keep it Clean: This isn't that kind of treasure hunt.
  7. DOs:
    • Have fun! It's mandatory. You're being watched. No, really.
  8. BUT SERIOUSLY:
    • If you have issues with photo uploads or logging into the website:
    • WhatsApp Niki (add your name to your message so I know who I'm talking to!)

  • Open Chrome or Safari and navigate to wcc-treasure.uk
  • iOS Users: Tap the Share icon (the square with an arrow pointing out of the top) at the bottom (Safari) or top (Chrome) of the screen. Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen"
  • Android Users: Tap the menu icon (3 dots in upper right-hand corner) and tap "Add to Home screen"
  • Confirm the name for the shortcut and then it will be added it to your home screen
